Chess Offline: Play & Review

Chess for one or two players, with its own engine, its own guide and no strings: no ads, no in-app purchases, no account and no internet. Play on the clock or without one, solve thousands of puzzles, train your openings — and when a game is over have every move you played graded. PLAY THE COMPUTER • Beginner, Easy, Medium, Hard and Grandmaster — or an adaptive opponent that grows stronger as you do • The engine is the app's own and runs on your device; Hard and Grandmaster open out of a book of more than 80 named lines, so they don't play the same game over and over • Queue a premove while the computer thinks TWO PLAYERS, ONE DEVICE • Pass the phone across the table, or lay it flat between you with each side's pieces facing its player • Draw by agreement, and Resign for a game that is already decided ON THE CLOCK • Bullet, blitz, rapid and classical presets, or your own minutes and increment • The clock pauses when you leave the app, warns when time runs short, and a flag that falls against a bare king is a draw, as the rules say • On the clock the computer budgets its own time • A chess clock for a game on a real board, with increment, delay or Bronstein, and time odds CHESS960, VARIANTS AND ODDS Fischer Random from any of its 960 positions, King of the Hill and Three-check, and the classical pawn, knight, rook and queen odds. PUZZLES About four thousand tactics from the Lichess database, built into the app: rated puzzles with a rating of your own, 32 themes from mate in one to zugzwang, a daily puzzle with a streak and a home-screen widget, and races against the clock. Best of all, the mistakes from your own reviewed games come back as puzzles to fix. TRAINING • Opening trainer: the computer plays its side of a book line, you play yours • Analysis board with a live engine evaluation and its best move drawn on the board • Position editor, and paste in any PGN or FEN A GAME REVIEW WITH NOTHING BEHIND A PAYWALL Every move graded from brilliant to blunder, an accuracy score per player, the evaluation graph, the time spent on each move, the engine's preferred move drawn on the board and the opening named. No daily limit, nothing to unlock. MY GAMES Your last 300 finished games are kept on the device: statistics by level, color and time control, a rough strength estimate, 31 achievements, and PGN export through the share sheet and import from the Files app. HOW TO PLAY, IF YOU ARE NEW TO IT Nine chapters and 38 pages, from how each piece moves to playing the middlegame well, with 27 board diagrams — 15 of them playable. WHILE YOU PLAY • Hint and Undo in games without a clock • Tap or drag; legal-move dots and coordinates can be switched off • Five board themes, synthesized sounds and haptics • Close the app mid-game and it comes back exactly as you left it BUILT FOR EVERYONE Every square is a button that says its coordinate and what stands on it, so a whole game can be played by ear. Text follows your Dynamic Type size up to the accessibility sizes, and Reduce Motion is honored. FAIR PLAY • No ads, no in-app purchases • No account, no sign-in, no data collected • Works completely offline — there is no networking code in the app at all • English and Czech, iPhone and iPad Just chess. Nothing else.
