Vane is a full instrument cluster for your iPhone: a large head-up speedometer, a digital compass, a barometric altimeter, a spirit level, a GPS camera and your live position in seven coordinate formats. Every reading says which sensor it came from. When the satellite signal drops, in a tunnel, a parking garage or a train, Vane says so: the compass and the barometric altimeter keep reading, the step counter keeps your walking pace, and the speedometer shows dashes rather than a guess. SPEEDOMETER • Large, legible speed in km/h, mph, knots or m/s • Head-up display that mirrors onto the windshield at night • Speed alert with a buzz when you go over • Trip recording: distance, moving time, average, top speed and climb • Odometer and a mileage log by purpose, exported as CSV or PDF • G-meter: braking, cornering and a motorcycle's lean angle • Acceleration timer: 0–100 km/h, 0–60 mph or your own speeds COMPASS • Magnetic or true north, with the declination cached so it stays true underground • Bearing lock, and a go-to arrow that points at a mark in a straight line • Sun compass: dawn, dusk, sunrise and sunset where you are • Qibla direction on the rose, if you turn it on • Anchor alarm for the boat ALTIMETER AND BAROMETER • Barometric altitude that keeps reading in a train, a lift or a plane cabin • Calibrate to a known elevation or the local sea level pressure • 48-hour pressure graph with a three-hour trend and a falling-pressure warning • Ski day: runs, vertical and lifts read off the barometer SPIRIT LEVEL • Surface and edge modes, degrees or percent, zero on any surface GPS CAMERA • Photos stamped with the place, coordinates and their accuracy, altitude, the direction you face, date and time, and a small map when online, saved to Photos MARKS AND MAPS • Mark where you parked and walk back to it • Save any place by name, address or coordinate: decimal, degrees-minutes, DMS, UTM, MGRS, USNG, British grid • Import GPX routes and follow them; export any trip as GPX • A built-in map that works with no network: roads, railways and towns, with your track and marks on it WIDGETS, WATCH AND SIRI • Your speed on the Lock Screen, with or without a trip • Apple Watch app with speed, heading and altitude on the wrist, and walks, hikes, runs and rides saved to the Health app as workouts with their route, and to Vane on your iPhone as trips • Siri: mark my position, where did I park, start a trip FREE, AND NO ADS The speedometer, compass, altimeter, level, GPS camera, G-meter, acceleration timer, head-up display, offline map and trip recording are free and stay free. There are no ads. Vane Pro adds: • Every trip kept • Unlimited marks • iCloud sync • Automatic drive recording • Your own maps • Mileage log export, fuel cost • Trip insights • Passport • GPX export and trip pictures • Speed alert, quick limits • Map grids: UTM, MGRS, USNG, British; sighted marks • Light planner, sun path • Backtrack • Anchor alarm Vane Pro is a one-time purchase. It never renews. PRIVACY Nothing you record is sent to Vane: it stays on your iPhone, and in your own iCloud if you turn sync on. There is no account, no advertising and no tracking. Vane sends only anonymous diagnostic reports and usage statistics (crashes, freezes, a daily performance summary and which features are used), never your position or your trips, and you can turn them off in Settings.
