Mailattic

Mailattic copies your email onto your own Mac and keeps it there. It downloads every message as the original file the server holds and stores it in one ordinary folder you pick. After that, one click fetches only what changed. WHERE YOUR MAIL GOES One folder on your disk. Not to us: we do not run a server that could receive it. There is no Mailattic account to create, no cloud, no analytics, no crash reporting. The archive is plain .eml files plus a SQLite index, so Time Machine backs it up like any other folder, and you can read it without this app. Mailattic only reads from your mail server. It never sends, deletes, moves, or marks anything read. Your credentials stay in the macOS Keychain. ACCOUNTS - Gmail, with an app password. Guided setup, no guessing. - iCloud Mail, with an app-specific password. - Outlook.com and Microsoft 365, with Sign in with Microsoft. - Any other IMAP server. Mailattic works out the host, or you type it in. BROWSE AND SEARCH Folder tree, message list, and a reading pane that blocks remote images until you allow them. Full-text search across every account, ranked by relevance. Attachments open in Quick Look. Raw source is one click away, because an archive you cannot inspect is not an archive. EXPORT Export the whole archive, one account, one folder, or what a search found. Formats: EML tree, mbox, an Apple Mail import bundle, Maildir, or PDF. You build the folder layout from tokens like year, month, sender, and subject, with a live preview on real messages. Re-running an export adds only what is new. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO Mailattic is not a mail client. It cannot write or send. It does not sync back to the server. It never deletes a local copy because a message disappeared from the server; recovering exactly those is the point. HONEST NOTES The first backup of a large mailbox takes a while, and that is your provider's doing rather than ours. Google caps IMAP downloads at 2.5 GB per account per day; iCloud slows down bulk transfers on its own schedule. Mailattic paces itself, names the limit it hit and when it resumes, and picks up where it stopped after a quit, a sleep, or a crash. The archive stays browsable throughout. Microsoft has not verified us as a publisher yet, so its sign-in page labels Mailattic unverified. That label is accurate, and the app tells you before the browser window opens. REQUIREMENTS macOS 26 or later. Bring an account you already have; Mailattic backs it up, it is not a mail service.
