Mard

Does fixing Markdown syntax keep interrupting your writing? Do you spend more time moving between source and preview than working on the sentence itself? Mard lets you edit the rendered document directly, then switch to Source or Split only when you need the Markdown underneath. Open a folder to navigate nested folders and text files in one sidebar and edit multiple documents together. :: HOW TO USE MARD :: 1. Start a new document or open a local Markdown, text, JSON, YAML, TOML, XML, or CSV file. 2. Edit headings, paragraphs, lists, and tables directly in Live view while seeing their formatting. 3. Switch to Source for precise Markdown control, or Split to keep the source and rendered result side by side. 4. Adjust the font, type size, line height, content width, and theme for the document at hand. 5. Press `Command + S` to save the document to the local location you choose. :: KEY FEATURES :: ► Edit the document you see The rendered result is not a read-only preview. Click into a heading or paragraph and keep writing. Select text to apply bold, italic, strikethrough, links, inline code, or math formatting. ► Live, Source, and Split views Use Live when the writing matters most and Source when you want direct control over Markdown syntax. Split keeps source and preview together so you can check exactly how the syntax is rendered. ► CommonMark and GFM syntax Work with headings, paragraphs, emphasis, links, images, blockquotes, ordered and unordered lists, task lists, inline code, fenced code blocks, tables, and horizontal rules. Markdown source and fenced code retain syntax coloring inside the monochrome interface. ► Open and save local files Drop a document into the window, choose one from the macOS open panel, or select Mard from Finder's Open With menu. Save, Save As, rename an unsaved document, and reveal its location without leaving the document. ► Typography that fits the document Pretendard is included as the default, and you can choose another font installed on your Mac. Adjust type size, line height, and content width, then follow the system appearance or choose Light or Dark. ► Four interface languages and document counts Mard follows the system language and supports Korean, English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese. Line, word, and character counts remain visible at the bottom of the window. :: FREE AND PRIVATE :: All editing features in Mard 0.4.2 are free. There is no account, advertising, analytics SDK, payment, or Mard backend. Documents are stored in the local files you choose and are not sent to the Mard operator. Unsaved changes are kept in private local app storage for recovery until you save successfully or explicitly choose Don't Save. If a document contains an external image URL, a network request may occur only to display that image.
