Number Quilt Numbers run down every column and across every row. They say how many squares are filled and in what order. Read them, fill in what you are sure of, cross out what you are sure of — and a picture quilts itself together, square by square, until you can see what it was all along. This is a nonogram, also called a griddler, a hanjie, or a Japanese crossword. THE PICTURES Every board is a thing you can name. An anchor. A deer. A garden cart. A lock clock. They are objects, not abstract shapes and not interface icons, and the name stays hidden until your last square goes in. Over 1,000 boards, and no two of them are the same picture. THE BOARDS Five sizes. The small ones teach you a move before the big ones ask for it, and the largest will keep you busy for an evening. NEVER A GUESS Every board has exactly one answer, and every answer can be reached by reasoning alone. Nothing in this game asks you to try a square and see. QUILT OR CLASSIC Each puzzle gets its own fabric colour, so the picture that appears is a different colour every time. If you would rather have the plain single colour this kind of puzzle usually uses, there is a Classic skin in Settings. ALSO IN THE BOX — Undo as much as you like, free, always. A wrong square never ends a board. — Hints that uncover a square you could have worked out yourself. — Reveal a line, for when one row is all that stands between you and the end. — A three-minute sprint, for when you only have three minutes. — An unfinished board waits exactly where you left it. — No account, no lives, no clock running against you.
