PULSIVA — Neon Rhythm Game

When a place closes for the night, the sounds left behind turn into ghosts. The night the PULSIVA basement club closed, someone pulled the plug halfway through the encore. In a pair of headphones left by the stage, that half a song kept looping. That song is Jelly. Jelly woke up the basement ghosts and started a band: Jelly & the Ghosts. A ghost's voice is tiny. Someone has to catch it right on the beat before it can sing, and only a ghost that's heard can be seen. Only one person in town can do it: you, still wearing headphones after closing. Fan No. 001. ◆ EVERY SONG IS A SHOW • Notes fly out of the speaker at center stage. Catch them on the two monitors, left and right. • The crowd is your judge: BOOM, WILD, NICE, OKAY. Miss one and all you hear is a soft “shh.” • Every catch lights up a ghost in the crowd. Keep the chorus going and they nod, raise their hands, sing along, and finally start a ghost wave. • Push the hype past 65% and the room is warmed up. • Hit tones follow each song's melody, and the cleaner your timing, the brighter they ring. ◆ RIDE ROUTE 0 ACROSS TOWN • Six venues after closing time: the Basement, an Old Opera House, a School Rooftop, a Late-Night Jazz Café, an Arcade Hall, and last stop, the Old Radio Tower. • Four stops along the route each have a resident ghost with something on its mind. Play that stop's finale and it joins the band. • Every show you finish puts a new poster on the Tour Wall. The wall is your tour. • After every show, Ghost Weekly prints a review: a headline, a grade stamp, and one line from Floaty, who has sat in the front row for three hundred years. • Want to play anything, any time? The Free Stage is open from night one. ◆ THE SETLIST • 42 songs, 168 charts, 70–196 BPM • 13 originals; 11 classical pieces (Canon in D plus a fast version, Für Elise, Ode to Joy, Beethoven's 5th, Eine kleine Nachtmusik, Rondo alla Turca, Vivaldi's Spring, Can-Can, Flight of the Bumblebee, Minuet in G); 6 anime-style anthems; 6 piano pieces; 6 arcade tracks • Four difficulties: EASY / NORMAL / HARD / EXPERT (Lv. 2–10) • Four kinds of notes: TAP, HOLD, CHAIN, SLIDE ◆ THE BAND HAS YOUR BACK • First Rehearsal: Hum, the bass player, walks you through every note type. No rush. • Sound Check: Drip, the drummer, counts you in and fixes the delay between your taps and your headphones or speaker. • Sound Desk: note speed, backing, hit tone, crowd, haptics, and a simple stage with a plain backdrop. ◆ EASY ON YOU • Free to play. No account needed. • Fully playable offline. • Ads only ever appear now and then after Ghost Weekly, never during a show. Put your headphones on. The doors are open, and you're Fan No. 001.
