SPU (Serial Port Utility) is a serial and network communication workbench for embedded development, hardware debugging and field service. Read UART logs, send AT commands, inspect Modbus or custom protocol frames, and capture problems for later analysis in one workspace. CONNECT AND DEBUG • Work with multiple serial ports, TCP clients, a multi-client TCP server and UDP, in split views or tabs. • Set baud rate, data bits, parity, stop bits, flow control and DTR/RTS. Send and receive text or hex with multiple encodings, timestamps, search and filtering. • Repeat transmissions, append line endings and checksums, calculate CRCs, and build Modbus RTU/ASCII requests. • Bridge connections, use remote serial ports over RFC 2217, or connect Modbus TCP clients to RTU devices. UNDERSTAND THE DATA • Plot numeric text, VOFA+ JustFloat or regex captures in real time, with channel statistics, zoom and pan. • Decode Modbus RTU/ASCII/TCP, validate frames and pair requests with responses. Define custom frames with fields, byte order and checksum rules. • Keep session logs and export CSV, JSON Lines or text. Copy selected bytes as C arrays or hex dumps. • Record multiple ports to .spulog and replay them in a separate window with a timeline, bookmarks and whole-recording search, without connecting to a device. AUTOMATE REPEATED WORK • Save commands as buttons, or combine send, wait and reply checks into test sequences. • Simulate a device with automatic reply rules. Use Lua scripts for conditions, loops and binary data. • Send and receive files with XMODEM/YMODEM on compatible devices and bootloaders. • Save connections, bridges and tool settings in a .spu project. WORK WITH REMOTE DEVICES Live Sync includes RFC 2217 Server, Live Console, Live Relay and Live Share. View a port in a browser, connect to a port on another computer, or invite a colleague with a time-limited sharing code. Cloud features require internet access; some require an Alithon account and use its cloud traffic allowance. FREE AND PRO SPU Free has no time limit. Basic local debugging needs no account. Multiple connections, bridges, the command panel, settings sync and session recording are available in Free. Plotting, decoding, automatic replies, sequences, scripts, file transfers and some export and replay functions have free allowances shown in the app. Exhausting an allowance does not interrupt basic data reception. A purchased SPU Pro license increases or removes the corresponding limits. This version includes no new Pro trial. PRIVACY AND HELP Online features start after your consent. Port data is transmitted only when you choose the relevant cloud features. Diagnostic packs are generated locally and are never uploaded automatically.
