See the real price before you pay. In the US, the price on the tag leaves out sales tax. Summalo shows what you'll actually pay, for the place where you shop. HOW IT WORKS - Point the camera at a price tag, or pick a photo - Choose the sale in 5 percent steps or enter your own - See the final price with every step: sale, subtotal, state tax, local tax - "Why this tax?" shows the rule behind the number and its source BUILT FOR CLOTHING AND SHOES Some states don't tax clothing, or only tax the part above a limit. In New York, clothing under $110 is exempt from state tax. In Massachusetts, only the part above $175 is taxed. Summalo applies these rules and shows which one it used. FOOD AND DRINK IN MORE THAN 40 STATES Groceries, candy, soda, prepared food, alcohol and medicine are taxed differently from state to state, some at a reduced rate. Summalo knows the rules for more than 40 states, and tells you when the result depends on details a price tag does not show. RATES FOR YOUR PLACE City and county rates for California, Florida, Texas and New York are built in. For 31 more states you can download the rates for free, after Summalo shows you the size and you confirm. Anywhere else, enter the local rate once. Find your place by city name, GPS, ZIP code or from a list. TAX-FREE DAYS Many states have days when clothing, school supplies or emergency gear is tax-free. Summalo knows the dates and limits for 18 states, applies them when you shop on such a day, and can remind you before they start. Reminders are made on your iPhone, nothing goes to a server. ALWAYS WITHIN REACH - Widgets (iOS 18): tax-free days, the tax rate at your place, and your last scan - Lock Screen, Control Center, Action button and Siri Shortcuts start a scan in one tap - Apple Watch app: a keypad calculator, tax-free days, and watch face complications UNDERSTANDS TAGS Many US tags show a suggested retail price and the store's own price. Summalo looks for the price you actually pay. Tap the right price once and confirm the brand, and Summalo remembers where that brand puts the price on its tags. It remembers only the position, never the photo.
